Yes! Volunteers of any age can make a difference for animals! Our youth volunteer program is very important to us. We appreciate the enthusiasm, energy, and fresh ideas from our younger community. We also believe that volunteering at a young age is important to developing adults who dedicate time and effort to community service throughout their lives.
HSLC has youth volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, and families. Many of our opportunities offer youth volunteers a chance to work independently and develop time management, project management, communications, and other skills.
If you are age 17 or under, we might require a parent or guardian to accompany you for safety purposes. Such instances might include working with animals and other jobs that require close adult supervision. We make these decisions on a case-by-case basis, depending on the job and experience of the youth volunteer.
