About Us

The Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization that was founded in 1966. Since then, HSLC has saved tens of thousands of animal lives. As a foster-based organization, we do not have a physical shelter. We can only save animals when we have a foster home to place them in.

HSLC adopts the no-kill equation so that all adoptable animals are saved. We contribute to Virginia serving as a national leader in the no-kill movement.

HSLC’s external programs include: Adoption, Foster, Rescue, Low-Cost Spay/Neuter, Humane Education, Pet Pantry, and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) of Community Cats. These programs ensure that animals find forever homes or that animals already in their forever homes can stay with their loving families.
