She has hands-on experience as a Foster, Adoptions Coordinator, Event Planner, Fundraising Coordinator, and Bookkeeper with a special interest in Humane Education. Juanita serves as the Program Lead for the Loudoun Pet Pantry. She shares her home in Sterling with two kitties, Flynn and Nutmeg, who came to her as a fosters but ended up staying as part of the family.

Dora Lea Spring-Lucas

Secretary

Dora Lea was born and raised in Loudoun County.  She currently resides in Leesburg, VA. She retired from a 30 year plus career as a production planner/coordinator for 3D Systems in 2019. 3D Systems was the first company ever to make a 3D printer. One of the first medical ads featured a replacement limb for a handicap pup.

Dora Lea has been involved with HSLC and TNR since 2006, when her husband found a litter of kittens, and several weeks later came across a large colony not too far from the kittens. Not knowing what to do or how to help, she reached out for assistance and was directed to HSLC team members, Sharon Nylec and Terri Elrod. Her first attempt at trapping was helping to find a litter of kittens on the Shenandoah river. Needless to say, she was standing on the rock the kittens were under and didn’t see them, rookie!

Dora Lea currently feeds several colonies. In addition, she also acts as HSLC contact for several other local colony feeders and shares any donated food to the feeders.

Alex Plott

Treasurer

Alex has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Baylor University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia. When he’s not supporting HSLC, he spends his days working as a Manager at Deloitte and supporting federal government clients by implementing financial tools and processes. Alex currently lives in Warrenton with his wife Amanda and a menagerie of pets including cats, a dog, ducks, and a tortoise!

Amy Richards

Member at Large

Amy first became acquainted with HSLC when she and her husband adopted a dilute tortie named Khaleesi in 2017. She began volunteering in 2019 when a blind senior cat, Margo the Comeback Cat, needed a quiet place to get back on her feet. Amy has also been trained in neonatal kitten care and began fostering orphaned kittens the same year. She enjoys working with the Animal Care Team to support, mentor, and grow the team of amazing fosters. Amy lives in Ashburn, VA with her husband, Andrew. They share their home (affectionately referred to as Richards’ Reserve) with their rescue dog, Madison, four rescue cats, Hansel, Kisu, Butterscotch, and Pelia along with whichever kindle of kittens are taking their turn in their home.
