Annie is almost 2 years old and is a sweetie pie of a dog. She's very friendly and sweet. She gets along great with people. Everyone that meets her falls in love with Annie, She would make a great family dog for an active family, or a single person or couple that like to hike. Annie loves to take long walks, then settle down for a chew on a bully stick, or some playtime with a tennis ball. Then she loves to stretch out next to you on the bed or couch and zonk out for some sleep. Annie was surrendered to a kill shelter in southern Virginia for chasing the chickens. Annie is a wonderful dog and is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. She would love her own furever home and couch to snuggle on.
Boots came to us from a lady who rescued her when she was 4 weeks old. Boots lived with her for a year but the lady's other cats kept picking on and bullying Boots. This sweet and gentle girl didn't fight back, she kept hiding from the other cats, only coming out at night to eat. So the lady asked us to take Boots and find her a furever home where she won't be picked on and scared for the rest of her life. Boots is a very sweet and friendly cat. She is a little shy at first but once she warms up then she can be a little lovebug. She likes to burrow under the blankets to sleep. Boots is 1 year old and is spayed and up to date on shots.
Rebecca and Raye are sweet 14 year old gray tabby sisters. They have been together their whole lives. Rebecca loves being part of the family and will ask for attention. She is always happy when her family comes home at the end of the day and welcomes them by running joyfully around the house. Raye is more reserved and just likes being around watching what is going on. This pair was adopted from HSLC as kittens in 2004 and recently returned because there is a new baby in the house who is allergic. Please your heart and give this sweet pair a home again.
Marmalade and her 2 babies, Peanut and Butterscotch, were rescued on June 9 when she was about 2 1/2 years old. This kitty is the sweetest mama. She is very loving and even grooms the 2 foster kittens that aren't her babies. Such a special mama!
Wesley and his mom were rescued from a kill shelter in WV, We recently put Wesley and his brother from another mother, Nigel, in a foster home together, since Nigel is also an "only child". Wesley and Nigel are having a blast playing and chasing each other around. They are keeping their foster mom entertained with their hilarious antics. Wesley and Nigel are approximately 16 weeks old and have received all of their age appropriate vaccinations so far. They will get the rest at the right age, along with neuter surgery and a microchip. Wesley and Nigel get along so well now that they need to be adopted together.
Skye & Ricky are a beautiful pair of siblings. Ricky is the more outgoing of the two, but once Skye gets to know someone she is quick to warm up and show affection. They were rescued from a kill shelter in WV along with their siblings Sprite, Ruben, and Seneca. They are still young, not quite a year old.
Meet Seneca This little girl is a dark coat beauty! Her coat is so black it shines with just a quarter sized white patch on her chest. She behaves very well, even when getting her ears cleaned, being groomed, and having her nails trimmed - which is every cat moms dream to not have to pay for these things! Over all she is perfect in so many ways. She loves attention and loves to be loved and will come to you any chance she has. She loves toys especially the balls with bells or anything squeaky and gets along with other cats. Seneca is friendly and sweet, she lets you pick her up and rub her belly. She would love a best friend to play with. I will say she is a bit food picky and prefers wet food- she sometimes will boycott the dry food. Seneca was rescued from a kill shelter in WV with her siblings. You can meet her any time at Petvalu in Ashburn.
Sprite & Ruben are 6 month old brothers that will keep you entertained with their antics. Then they will be happy to snuggle up to watch some TV or take a nap. Sprite is the more playful of the two. Ruben is more laid back and likes to supervise his brother to make sure he stays out of trouble. When they settle down they are usually close by to each other, and Sprite likes to give his brother a bath before they go to sleep. Both cats are up to date on shots, neutered and microchipped. Who wouldn't want these 2 beautiful boys as members of the family?
Berlin was rescued when he was spotted by a volunteer, crying at the edge of some woods near a busy intersection in western Loudoun. It took us 24 hours but we finally trapped him, not a moment too soon. He would not have survived out there much longer. Now Berlin is safe and happy in one of our wonderful foster homes. He's having fun playing with his foster sister Tortellini and learning to enjoy life and be a kitten again. Berlin is a beautiful buffy lavender color.
Meet super- energetic Aslan. Aslan has orange medium length fur and very furry toes. He was rescued from a high kill shelter in WV. Aslan loves attention and has lots of energy so he would do well with an active family or four legged brothers/sisters. He likes to lick your face and chase your feet when you walk! He has been around kids and loves them. This little boy is non-stop with playing and jumping and getting loved on. He likes to crawl on you and loves to sleep right on you or under your chin. Getting into small spaces is his specialty! Aslan is currently at the Petvalu in South Riding, which is in the South Riding Market Square shopping center near the corner of Loudoun County Parkway and Route 50. Aslan is vaccinated and will be neutered and microchipped on Tuesday, 10/17.
Kizzy is a very sweet and beautiful young cat that loves to hang out on top of her foster mom. She would love her own furever home where she can hang out, play or just catch up on her binge TV watching when she wants.
Does your house or apartment need a little bit of sophistication and glamour? Do your Media Posts need some Fuzzy Pizazz lounging in the background? Well then, look no further! You need Holly in your world! Holly is a 3 yr old elegant young lady who loves to weave around ankles and sit near or on her human friends. She adores pets and scratches but is not a fan of being picked up. She likes to be in control, so all four feet on the ground thankyouverymuch! She is happy as pie as long as she is driving the bus, if you get our drift. Anyway, she's GORGEOUS, affectionate, looks great sitting on your window sill. What a beautiful addition to a home, apartment, or condo. Holly is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.
Who wants an beautiful, exotic-looking furry socialite in their home? An Audrey Hepburn, Holly Golightly type cat? You do! Calypso is just a darling young lady, with an amazing story to tell. She arrived on our doorstep, very pregnant and as soon as we got her settled in with her foster, she gave birth to 5 beautiful babies. She was a fantastic mom, always cuddly, sweet, and affectionate with them and with people. In fact, she was so excited to greet her foster mom every day she would get up with the kittens still hanging on her, and drag them over to see her human friend. She's a hoot! Anyway, she did a magnificent job with her kids, so now it's her turn to find a wonderful home that she can grace with her beauty and charming presence. Calypso came to us from a high kill shelter in WV, very pregnant. Calypso will be getting spayed this week (10/17) and will be ready for her own furever home afterwards.

Gold Ivy was found as a stray. We think she was dumped by someone. Once we rescued her, we also found out that someone had used her for target practice with a BB gun. Gold Ivy is a sweetheart of a cat. She's still a little shy as she learns to trust humans again.
Peek-a-boo was found living in a feral colony. But it was obvious that he didn't belong there and was actually a friendly and social cat. Peek-a-boo is a confident cat and is amazing at capturing flying toys streaming through the air! Heâs a happy, vocal guy thatâs as sweet as can be with people and other cats! He loves to be petted but hasnât yet figured out how to be a lap kitty but give him a little bit of time and he will! From the beginning, there was something uniquely different about him, and youâre really gonna love him!!!
Polly is a sweet and beautiful tortoiseshell cat, found as a stray.
Essex is a sweet, gorgeous boy! Like his sister Marie, Essex was found and taken from a barn and began the socialization process later than most because they displayed characteristics of being wonderful indoor members of the family. Essex is still very shy when it comes to being petted and held but he enjoys being around people and observing. He is keenly interested in housekeeping -Essex just loves to watch the broom and dust pan. You will love watching Essexâs acrobatic moves when he chases and catches his bird toy, With love and patience, this sweet boy will open up and be a wonderful member of the family.
Trevor is a very special boy. He is super sweet, loves to be petted and plays like there is no tomorrow. In his mind, there is nothing he loves more than a toy mouse on a string! On second thought, Trevor certainly enjoys a good hearty meal, what growing boy does not! You may notice that Trevor is ear-tipped. Trevor was going to be placed into a barn along with his two brothers. Although the look in his eyes and his gentle behavior let HSLC know that he would be a much better indoor kitty chasing toy mice rather than a barn cat chasing real mice. Trevor needs a great person/family that will enjoy working with this fantastic kitty and enjoy watching him blossom into an amazing family cat.
Look at me! Aren't I the cutest thing that you have ever seen? My name is Ralph and I'm a curious little thing. I love to explore and play. However, when play time is over, I'm always in search of a warm lap to cuddle in. I am good with other cats, kittens, and even children. I'm warming up to dogs but that is taking some time. Ralph is receiving his shots as he gets old enough for each. When he's 4 months old, he will receive Rabies, be neutered and microchipped. HSLC pays for all that, even post adoption.
My name is Stanley and I'm a playful little guy. I'm a little more timid than my brothers, but I'm still outgoing. I love to play with my toys and explore. I'm good with kids, cats, and kittens. Still a little uncertain about dogs so I just avoid them at the moment. I love to be petted and have my ears scratched. Stanley is receiving all his age appropriate shots, and when he's 4 months old he will be neutered and microchipped. HSLC pays for all that, even post adoption.
My name is Oskar and I'm a pretty cool kitty. I'm playful, adventurous, and will look for a lap when I want to be petted and loved on. I love playing with my siblings and my toys. Oskar is getting all his age appropriate shots, and will be neutered and microchipped when he's 4 months old. HSLC pays for all that, even post adoption.
O'Malley was found as a stray in one of our feral colonies. It was obvious to the caretaker that he was lost, so she scooped him up and brought him to us. We searched for his family but were unable to find them. So we neutered, vaccinated and microchipped him and now he's up for adoption. He gets along great with kids, dogs and cats. He's just a total sweetheart and lovebug that would make a great addition to any family.

Meet Emmie Rose Emmie gets along great with other cats, dogs and kids. She is one of the sweetest, most loving cat I have met. She loves to play. Her favorite toys are strings and balls. She loves snuggles and to be petted. She will meow and chirp at your feet when she is ready to be loved. Definitely works up an appetite from all her playing. She was dropped on our doorstep by some neighborhood kids who found her by the pond. Ever since she entered our house she has been sweet, social, and so appreciative of a loving, warm home.
