Programs

RESCUE

HSLC’s Rescue Program leads the intake of animals from our partners in Virginia, West Virginia, and other states to HSLC. Our intake allows for our partner communities to save more animals instead of resorting to euthanization.

Foster

HSLC’s Foster Program is our biggest, most expensive, and most impactful program. As a foster-based organization, we do not have a physical shelter. We can only save animals when we have a foster home to place them in.

Adoption

HSLC’s Adoption Program is the widest known program. We match families with our animals based on a variety of factors to ensure the animals find the best forever homes for them.

Community Cats

HSLC’s Community Cat Program is our second biggest program and humanely reduces homeless animals and killings. The best way to help community cats and kittens is through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). TNR is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats.

Loudoun Working Cats

HSLC’s Loudoun Working Cats Program relocates community cats in danger and is always a last resort.

Loudoun Pet Pantry

The Loudoun Pet Pantry is a partnership between HSLC, Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS), and Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR) to help keep pets in loving homes by providing food supplies to families in need.

Humane Education

Humane education is teaching others to care for the animals that share our world – both in our homes and in our communities. We can visit your school, scout troop, church, nursing home or community organization. Topics include preventing pet overpopulation, responsible pet ownership, animal welfare and HSLC’s role in the community.

Volunteer

Our work would not be possible without the dedication, passion, and determination each and every volunteer brings to the organization. We rely on our volunteers to expand our capacity to save lives and serve our community.
