HSLC Board Elects New President
After 8 years as President of the Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC), Juanita Easton has decided to pass the torch to a new leader. Juanita has been volunteering for HSLC since 2001. She will be receiving Loudoun Cares’ 2022 Judy Hines Service of a Lifetime Award in May.
Reflecting on her years of service, Juanita says, “It’s been my honor to volunteer with HSLC for these many years. My last several years as President have been very rewarding as I have helped the organization grow while working with so many remarkable volunteers and business partners.”
Passing the Baton
On April 26, 2022, the HSLC board unanimously elected Anne Senft to serve as its new President. Anne has been a volunteer with the Humane Society for nearly five years and is currently serving her second term on the board of directors. She brings decades of non-profit leadership and fundraising experience at both the local and national level. While at HSLC, she has overseen fundraising, marketing, social media, and events for the organization. Anne and her husband, Tom, also foster cats for HSLC out of their home in Leesburg, VA.
“I am thrilled to serve with HSLC’s amazing volunteers, fosters and supporters in this new capacity. Together we will continue to give more animals in our community a better life,” says Anne.
Juanita will remain on the board as Vice President to help ensure a smooth transition. “Anne brings many talents to the organization that I know will benefit our mission. It’s been an incredible journey and I look forward to continuing to support HSLC any way I can.”
The VP position was recently vacated when Christina Levendosky’s two-year term on the board ended. Christina will remain as an HSLC volunteer and foster. The board would like to thank Christina for her numerous leadership contributions while on the board and her continued service to animals in need.
Ensuring Animals Have a Voice
The HSLC board also welcomed its 2021 Volunteer of the Year, Amy Richards, to the board of directors. Amy has become an invaluable volunteer to the organization and will serve as the voice of at-risk animals at the board level. She lives in Ashburn with her husband, Andrew, their rescue dog, Madison, and four rescue cats as well as any foster kittens that might be passing through. Amy says, “I’m excited to use my experience and passion for animals to represent the Animal Care Team and explore ways we can expand our program to save more lives.”
