Humane Education

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

What is Humane Education?

Humane education is the teaching of children and adults to care for the animals that share our world – both in our homes and in our communities. It is about fostering attitudes of respect, responsibility and kindness – for animals and people alike. Humane education’s fundamental purpose is to make the world a better place for all living creatures.

What is HSLC's Humane Education PRogram?

HSLC can visit your school, scout troop, church, nursing home, or other community organization and talk about a humane education topic of your choosing. Topics include preventing pet overpopulation, responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and HSLC’s role in the community. Our program encourages students to speak up for animals rather than accept the role of passive observers.
