Give Choose

May 2, 2017

GiveChoose is our 24 hour online fundraising campaign, hosted by the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties.  It goes from midnight to midnight on May 2. We need your help in order to continue saving animals.  Your donations provide life saving vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and treatment for injuries and illnesses for our adoptable animals and Community Cats.

You can schedule your donation in advance for Give Choose at www.givechoose.org/humaneloudoun

Our Foster program saves lives by allowing us to rescue animals from high kill shelters and placing them into foster care. Since we do not have a physical shelter, we can only save animals when we have a foster home to place them in.
Our Foster Program covers the medical costs of all our adoptable animals. We pay for all medical expenses of the animals in our care, young or old, sick or healthy. Your donatons will help us continue to save lives by helping to pay for our biggest expense, our Foster medical costs. Every animal adopted from us has a current rabies and distemper vaccination, is spayed or neutered, and microchipped. We also have 2 senior cats in hospice care due to cancer and advanced age.

  • $40 will pay for a Rabies Vaccination for a dog or cat.
  • $50 will help us neuter 1 male cat
  • $100 will pay for 1 male dog to be neutered
  • $150 will pay for 1 female dog’s spay surgery
  • $400 will pay for 1 kitten
  • $1000 will cover 2 sick kittens
  • $2000 pays for 1 litter of 5 kittens

Our Community Cats/ TNR program helps improve the lives of community, or feral, cats and stops the breeding cycle in order to help stabilize and reduce populations. This program is one of our biggest programs. TNR is a core component of the No Kill Philosophy, which is part of our Strategic Plan.

Our Community Cats program is vital for helping solve the problem of feral cats and reducing the number of community cats killed in shelters every year. We believe in it so strongly that we provide this program free of charge to the residents of Loudoun County. If we required people to pay for this, then people would not reach out to ask us for help due to financial concerns, which would cause the overpopulation problem to continue.  This program rescues kittens younger than 12 weeks of age, so we can socialize them and get them adopted to furever homes.  Your donations to this program will help us to continue this important and life saving work.

  • $60 pays for 1 humane kitten trap
  • $75 pays for 1 humane feral cat trap
  • $90 pays for the vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and microchipping of 1 healthy community (feral) cat
  • $200 covers the cost of 1 sick or injured community (feral) cat

Our Adoption Program is one of our most important programs. This is the program that advertises and promotes our animals and gets them adopted. Donating to cover the cost of  our adoption fees would help get more animals adopted by providing free adoptions to potential adopters. This would help us save even more animals by helping to get our current animals adopted even quicker. We believe in keeping adoption fees reasonably priced to encourage people to adopt rather than buy from a breeder or unscrupulous pet stores. We want adopters to always go to a rescue or shelter to adopt instead of buying. When people buy instead of adopting, more animals are killed in shelters.

  • $130 pays the Adoption Fee for 1 cat
  • $300 pays the Adoption Fee for 1 dog

Help us save more animals by donating to HSLC for Give Choose on May 2. And don’t forget that you can schedule your donation in advance now at www.givechoose.org/humaneloudoun.
